University of Southern California - BS, Industrial and Systems Engineering

I am pursuing my degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the University of Southern California. I first had the opportunity to tutor as a middle school student and it ignited a passion for teaching that continues today. I have tutored all ages from preschool to fellow college students in a variety of topics. However, my strengths lie in mathematics, writing, and test preparation. I'm especially drawn to statistics and calculus as a tutor as they are fun for me and are always a revelation to my students. I realize how challenging these areas are for many students and I endeavor to bring real world applications into the study session to make them more accessible. Finding ways to incorporate student's outside interests with academic subjects has been reliably successful. This allows the student to see why a process works the way it does and then to see how it is the same in all situations allowing them to gain a true understanding of the material other than simply finding the correct answers for a set of problems. When I am not tutoring I enjoy math puzzles, spending time outdoors, spending time with friends, and hockey.
